Terms of Service

Welcome to Stella. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Stella website, web application, and installable app (together, the "Service"), operated from India ("Stella", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What Stella Is

Stella is an AI-powered study companion built for medical students preparing for examinations such as the USMLE and MBBS. The Service includes AI chat, spaced-repetition flashcards, study planning, clinical case practice, and related study tools. Stella is an educational tool — nothing more.

Medical disclaimer — please read this carefully. Stella is for education and exam preparation only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it must never be used to make decisions about the care of real patients. AI-generated content can be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong. Always verify information against authoritative sources and defer to qualified, licensed medical professionals and your institution's guidance. If you are dealing with a medical emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.

2. Your Account

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
Provide accurate registration information and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
One account per person. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us promptly at the address below.

3. Plans, Billing & Quotas

Paid plans are billed in Indian Rupees (₹) and processed by Razorpay. We never see or store your card details.
Each plan includes usage allowances (for example weekly usage and reserve quotas) as described on the pricing page at the time of purchase. Allowances, features, and prices may change; changes apply from your next billing period and will be visible before you pay.
Plans are prepaid periods and never auto-charge — renewing is always a fresh purchase you make yourself. Plan durations and any renewal discounts (such as streak-based discounts) are as shown at checkout.
Refunds and cancellations are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
A free trial tier, where offered, is provided as-is, may be adjusted or withdrawn at any time, and is limited to one per person.

4. Fair & Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

use the Service for anything unlawful, harmful, or infringing on others' rights;
attempt to breach, probe, or overload the Service, bypass rate limits or quota enforcement, or access other users' data;
scrape, resell, sublicense, or provide third-party access to the Service or its outputs as a competing product;
reverse engineer, copy, or reproduce the Service's software, prompts, or user interface;
use automated tooling to extract bulk content from the Service.

We apply rate limits and fair-use safeguards to keep the Service affordable and available for everyone. Accounts that abuse the Service may be limited, suspended, or terminated.

5. Your Content & AI Outputs

You retain ownership of the content you submit (questions, notes, uploaded study material). You grant us the limited licence needed to process it to run the Service — see the Privacy Policy for how content is handled.
Subject to these Terms, you may use AI-generated outputs for your personal study. Outputs are provided "as is", may be inaccurate, and may be similar to outputs generated for other users.
The Service's software, design, branding, prompt systems, and interface are our intellectual property. All rights reserved.
Only upload material you have the right to use. We may remove content that infringes third-party rights.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties: AI model providers process your prompts to generate responses, Razorpay processes payments, and our static site is delivered via hosting providers. Their processing is described in the Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for outages of third-party services, though we work to route around them where possible.

7. Availability

Stella is an actively developed product. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, or circumstances beyond our control. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or create risk for us or other users. Where reasonable, we will warn you first. Paid entitlements at termination are handled per the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind; we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or exam outcomes; and our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three (3) months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts of competent jurisdiction in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
